Hauled 44 miles to Pt. Reyes from San Francisco. OK, not all on that bike, but that got us miles up the trail to the site.

Angel Island, in the middle of SF Bay, is a great place to escape the city for some spectacular car-free camping. This is near where the ferry drops you off.

Xtracycle or trailer? No, Xtracycle and trailer. Trailers are good for sheltering kids from the elements. Combined load capacity is fairly staggering, which is where the motor helps.

Scoping stealth camping sites along the Leif Erikson trail in Portland's West Hills. It's childishly fun to blast silently uphill past people on ultra-light bikes while carrying your kid. I said childishly. We rode from Mt. Tabor, across the river, up Leif Erikson to Saltzman Road, and back.
